About Me
I am an MD candidate with a passion for pediatrics. My goal is to contribute to the health and happiness of children through dedicated medical practice and advocacy.
Education
- Doctorate of Medicine from Howard University College of Medicine, Class of 2025
- Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Neurobiology from the University of Maryland, College Park
Experience
I have dedicated significant time to volunteer work, particularly serving underrepresented and underserved communities. My efforts include working closely with children and families in need of medical care, providing compassionate service and contributing to healthcare outreach initiatives.
Terps Helping Turtles
7 of my fellow Integrated Life Sciences students and I went to Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center in Surf City, North Carolina for our spring break in order to help the staff at the sea turtle hospital. This hospital takes in sea turtles that can't swim properly, or have other health conditions due to being tangled in fish nets or ingesting debris littered into the oceans, and treats them until they are healthy enough to be released back into the wild. They treated anything from smaller green sea turtles to giant loggerheads. We had the privilege to clean the turtles' tanks, wash the floors, clean the turtles themselves, and assist the staff with their treatments.
USCMO Advocacy Day
Since 2016, I have attended USCMO Advocacy Day in Washington D.C. on Capitol Hill, alongside a diverse group of delegates from all over the United States. As a delegate of the Maryland team, my responsibilities include promoting an agenda that supports equality and addresses social justice issues for the benefit of all people. I also work directly with lawmakers and prepare my team members to advocate for policies that benefit the Muslim community.
It’s been a rewarding experience to engage with such passionate advocates. You can even find me in the main picture on USCMO’s website—see if you can spot me!
Ramadan In Jordan
After hearing about the refugee crisis in Jordan, my friends and I partnered with an international relief organization called HHRD, which I've worked with for the past 15 years, to provide aid to those fleeing their homes in search of safety. Our job was to help plan and execute the Ramadan Tent to help feed refugee families. In the month we spent there, we provided food for over 9,500 individuals, mainly women and children, and also provided basic needs such as housing and transportation.
We coordinated with Helping Hand Jordan and organized our own trip to assist during Ramadan. Despite fasting from sunrise to sunset in the scorching desert, we packed and distributed bags full of food, medicine, and tea to various refugee camps across the country. We also organized a tent, Khaymar Ramadan, where orphans and widows were transported to and provided with meals in a restaurant-style setting each evening. In total, we fed about 400 people daily, reaching 9,600 for the month. This experience was a humbling reminder that helping others is not merely an act of kindness but a duty and a right owed to those less fortunate.
Hobbies
Besides my medical studies, I immerse myself in creative and sometimes technical hobbies that help me grow both personally and professionally. (Some of these buttons are clickable but it's a work in progress!)
